Every booking carries two statuses. The booking status says whether the seats are taken. The payment status says how much of the money is in.
Booking status
Status | Means |
Pending | Created but not confirmed. It does not hold seats. Usually a booking you created that is waiting for the customer to pay their payment link |
Confirmed | Seats are taken, add-on stock is reserved, and the customer has been notified |
Canceled | Seats are released. Money may or may not have been refunded |
Refunded | Everything collected was refunded. This is final |
Payment status
Status | Means |
Unpaid | Nothing collected yet |
Partially paid | The deposit is in and installments are still scheduled. A partial refund does not change it, so the booking's payment link keeps working |
Paid | Fully collected |
Overdue | A payment plan missed an installment. See When an installment fails |
Partially refunded | The booking was paid in full and part of the money was given back |
Refunded | Everything collected was given back |
How canceling and refunding combine
What you did | Booking status | Payment status |
Canceled, nothing refunded | Canceled | Unchanged — the money is kept |
Canceled, part refunded | Canceled | Partially refunded |
Refunded everything collected | Refunded | Refunded |
Partial refund without canceling | Confirmed | Partially refunded if the booking was Paid; a booking still being paid off stays Partially paid |
Where a booking came from
Each booking also records its source: your public checkout, a website widget, created by your team, or a sales channel such as GetYourGuide. A booking made from an accepted booking request keeps the source the traveler used.
