A discount code is a word travelers type at checkout to get a percentage or a fixed amount off. You can limit a code to one trip, to certain departures, to a date range, to a number of uses, or to a minimum order.
Create the code
Go to Settings → Discount codes and select New Discount code.
Type the Code. It is saved in capitals and cannot be changed later.
Choose the Discount type — Percentage off or a fixed amount — and its Value.
Set any limits you need:
Applicable to — All experiences, or one experience
Restrict this discount code to specific departures — The code works only on the upcoming departures you list
Max redemptions — How many bookings can use the code. Blank means unlimited
Minimum booking amount — The order must reach this amount before the discount
Valid from / Valid until — When the code works, in your workspace's timezone
Select Create.
How the discount is applied
It comes off the price of the participants plus add-ons, before any service fee you pass on to the traveler.
A percentage is rounded down to the cent. A fixed amount never takes a booking below zero.
With a payment plan, the deposit and installments are worked out from the discounted total.
One code per booking. Codes cannot be combined.
Discount codes never apply to booking requests, to GetYourGuide bookings, or on a payment link for a booking that already exists.
What happens next
Travelers enter the code on the payment step of checkout, under the "add a discount code" link. You can also pre-fill it in a booking link or a widget.
You can apply a code yourself when you create a booking.
The list shows each code's status — Active, Future, Expired or Archived — and how many times it has been used.
A use is counted when a booking is confirmed, never when the code is only typed. Canceling a booking does not give the use back.
Retire a code
Codes are archived, not deleted. Open the code and select Archive, or archive several from the list. It stops working at once, and bookings that used it keep their discount. Duplicate starts a new code with the same settings.
To rename a code, archive it and create a new one. You can reuse the word of an archived code.
Why was a traveler's code rejected?
Why was a traveler's code rejected?
Samba tells the traveler the reason. A code is rejected when it is mistyped, archived, not started yet, expired, fully used, meant for another trip or departure, or when the order is below the minimum amount. If a change to the order makes the code invalid, the discount is removed and the reason shown.
