Which booking widget should I use?

The four booking widgets compared, what each shows your visitors, and the settings you can change on each.

Samba has four widgets. All of them show live availability and open your Samba checkout. To put one on your site, see Add a booking widget to your website.

Button

A green Book now button
  • With an experience, it opens that trip's departures page or its trip page. With a folder, it opens that folder's trip list. With neither, it opens your full trip list.

  • You pick an experience or a folder, not both.

  • You can set the label (up to 60 characters), icon, size and color. The color starts as your workspace accent color.

  • The "from" price is off by default. It is hidden when the trip has no bookable departure or no paid price. With a folder, it shows the cheapest price in that folder.

Upcoming Departures

A list of five departures, each with a date, seats left, a from price and a Book button
  • Day tours show the date and start time. Multi-day trips show the date range.

  • Page size sets how many dates show before Show more: 5 by default, from 1 to 20.

  • From price and Seats left can each be turned off.

Calendar

A month calendar with bookable days in green and the selected day's departure listed below
  • Shows one month at a time. Visitors can move forward as far as the month of your last scheduled departure.

  • From price and Seats left can each be turned off.

Product List

Three trip cards, each with a photo, a from price and the next departure date
  • Layout is a card grid or a list.

  • If you use folders, the widget leads with them as cover cards. Visitors open a folder to browse its trips inside the widget. Tick Skip folder navigation and list every experience individually for a flat list.

  • Pick a Folder to show only that folder's trips. There is no filter per experience.

  • Each card shows the next departure date, "Available on request", or "No upcoming dates".

Settings every widget has

Setting

Options

Open in

Fullscreen modal (default), a smaller modal, or a new tab

Language

Auto, or one of your workspace's enabled languages

Auto-apply discount code

One of your currently valid codes, applied at checkout without the visitor typing it

Button and Product List also have On click, open: the trip's upcoming departures (default) or its trip page.

Which prices visitors see

  • Button and Product List show the trip's "from" price, the same one as on its trip page.

  • Upcoming Departures and Calendar show each departure's own price. If you priced that departure differently, visitors see the new price with its label as a badge. The regular price is struck through beside it only if you turned on Display original price for that departure.

How does Auto language work?

The widget uses the language of the page it sits on, then the visitor's browser language, then your workspace's default language. It only ever uses a language you have enabled. A fixed language forces both the widget and the checkout it opens. If you later disable that language, the widget goes back to Auto.

What happens if the discount code stops being valid?

Checkout checks the code again. A code that has expired, hit its limit or does not fit the chosen departure is dropped without a message, and the visitor pays full price. If you change a widget's experience, Samba clears a code that only applied to the old one.

What do visitors see for trips that take booking requests?

Upcoming Departures adds a "pick any date" option and Calendar adds a toggle. Picking a date starts a booking request. A trip with no scheduled departures shows the date picker straight away. If you set request start times on the trip, the visitor then picks a time.
