Offer add-ons

Sell extras such as equipment hire, insurance or a transfer with a trip, priced per booking or per participant, with optional stock.

Add-ons are extras travelers can buy with a trip: equipment hire, insurance, an airport transfer. Travelers pick them at checkout, and you can pick them when you create a booking yourself. Each add-on becomes a line on the booking.

Add an add-on

  1. Go to Settings → Experiences, open the experience, and click Edit.

  2. Open the Pricing & Participants tab.

  3. In Add-ons, click New Add-on.

The Add-ons section with one add-on open and the New Add-on button outlined
  4. Enter a Name, an optional Description, and a Price. Prices include VAT.

  5. Choose the Pricing unit:

    • Per booking — bought for the booking as a whole. Turn on One purchase per booking to show travelers a single tick instead of a quantity.

    • Per participant — on a multi-day trip, bought for the whole party by default; the traveler can also assign it to some participants only. On a day tour, sold as a quantity, up to the number of participants.

  6. In Availability, enter how many you can sell on each departure. Leave it empty for unlimited.

  7. Choose where it is offered: Available for fixed departures, Available for private tours (on request), or both. At least one must be on.

  8. On a multi-day tour, turn off Available in all packages to offer the add-on only with the packages you select.

  9. Click Save changes.

You can also add up to 5 photos under Images. Travelers see a thumbnail at checkout and can open the photos full-size.

How stock works

  • Stock is counted per departure, not per experience. With Availability set to 10, you can sell 10 on every departure.

  • Samba checks stock when the traveler builds their cart and again before charging the card. Once a departure's stock is gone, the add-on stops selling on that departure.

  • Stock is taken when the booking is confirmed. If another traveler takes the last unit first, the booking fails before any money is taken.

  • A new add-on is offered on departures starting today or later.

  • Stock limits apply to bookings you create yourself too.

What happens next

  • The total for an add-on is its price × quantity. There are no quantity discounts.

  • A booking keeps the add-on name and price it was sold with, even if you later change or delete the add-on.

  • Need a different add-on price on one date? Price that departure on its own.

How do add-ons work with booking requests?

Samba checks add-ons once, when the traveler sends the request, against the add-on's Availability. When you accept the request, the booking keeps those add-ons as they were requested. See Understanding booking requests.

A traveler booked different packages for their group. Who can get a package-limited add-on?

Only the participants whose own package includes the add-on.

Can I add or remove an add-on after the booking is confirmed?

Yes, by editing the booking. Samba adjusts the stock by the difference, and refuses the edit if stock is short.
