Offer early-bird or last-seat prices

Add pricing steps to a departure so its price changes on its own as the date gets closer or the seats run out.

A pricing step is a price list that switches on by itself. There are two kinds:

Step

Applies

Until N days before departure

From now until that many days before the start. Use it for an early-bird rate.

When N seats or fewer remain

Once the seats left drop to that number. Use it for a last-seats price.

Before you start

The departure must be upcoming and Scheduled. A sold-out departure can be edited again if a cancellation re-opens it.

Add a step

  1. Open the departure from Calendar & Scheduling and scroll to Pricing.

  2. Select Add pricing step.

The Pricing section with the Add pricing step button
  3. Name the step, for example "Early bird". Travelers see this name as a badge. Under Translations you can name it in your other languages.

  4. Choose the kind of step and enter the number of days or seats.

  5. Type the step's prices in its column. A blank box falls back to the Departure prices column, then to your regular price.

A pricing step named Early bird that applies until 30 days before departure
  6. Select Save prices.

Use more than one step

Add a second step for a staged offer. For example, on a €3,200 trip: "until 60 days before" at €2,800, then "until 30 days before" at €3,000. The last 30 days use Departure prices, or your regular price if that column is blank.

When two steps apply at the same moment, the one furthest to the right wins. In the example, both steps apply while the trip is more than 60 days away, so the 60-day step must sit to the right of the 30-day step. Use the arrows on a step to move it, or the cross to remove it.

What happens next

  • Travelers see the step's price and its badge at checkout, in your widgets and, for multi-day trips, on your trip page. Tick Display original price to travelers to show your regular price crossed out beside it.

  • In your departure lists, the date is badged with the step in force.

  • Each booking records the step that priced it. Bookings already made keep their price when a step starts or ends.

Why is there no badge at checkout?

If the step in force is blank for an item, that item uses Departure prices and no step badge. When one cart mixes items priced by two different steps, Samba shows no badge at all.
