Team roles and permissions

What Owner, Admin, Manager, User, Viewer and Field staff can each see and do in a Samba workspace.

Every team member has one role per workspace. Samba has six built-in roles; they cannot be edited and you cannot create your own. The same person can hold a different role in each workspace they belong to.

You can see this list in the app under Settings → Team → Roles.

The six roles

Role

What they can do

Owner

Everything. One per workspace. The only role that can open the billing portal or transfer ownership.

Admin

Everything except opening the billing portal and transferring ownership. Can view the plan page. With the Owner, the only role that manages API keys.

Manager

Everything except billing, which they do not see, the Crew Management on/off switch, and API keys. Manages team members below Manager.

User

Day-to-day work: experiences, departures, bookings, requests, cancellations, customers, tasks, discount codes, policies, payment plans and crew. Takes payments, refunds and manual charges. Sees and exports reports.

Viewer

Read-only access to operational data.

Field staff

Crew self-service only: their own assignments, crew tasks and availability. See Crew schedule and tasks.
