A crew role is a label such as "Guide" or "Driver". A crew member is someone on your team who holds one or more of those roles. You need both before you can staff a departure.
Before you start
Each crew member already has a Samba login on your workspace. If they do not, invite them to your team first. The Field staff role suits people who only need their own schedule and tasks.
Create your roles
Go to Settings → Crew management → Roles.
Select New crew role.
Enter a Name and, if you like, pick a Color to tell roles apart at a glance.
Select Create. To add several roles in a row, select Create & create another instead.
Role names must be unique in your workspace.
Add your crew members
Go to Settings → Crew management → Members.
Select New crew member.
Under Workspace member, choose the person.
Under Crew roles, choose every role they can fill. Someone can be both a Guide and a Driver.
Select Create.
To change someone's roles later, select Edit next to their name.
Their name and photo come from their Samba account. Each person has one crew record per workspace.
A crew role is not a permission. What someone can see and do in Samba is set by their team role.
What happens next
Record time off so you are warned before assigning someone who is away.
How do I retire a role or a crew member?
How do I retire a role or a crew member?
Archive it. An archived role or member drops out of every picker, and all past assignments and completed tasks are kept. You can unarchive either one later.
You can delete a role only while nobody holds it.
Why can't I archive a crew member?
Why can't I archive a crew member?
They are still confirmed on an upcoming departure. Open each of those departures, remove them from their slot, then archive them.
What happens when I remove a crew member from my team?
What happens when I remove a crew member from my team?
Removing someone under Team archives their crew record for you. Their confirmed assignments on upcoming departures are released, and an open slot takes each one's place so you can refill it. Past departures stay as they were. The person is not emailed about the released assignments.
Tasks you assigned to them by name stay theirs until you reassign them.
If you invite them back later, their crew record stays archived until you unarchive it.

Owners, Admins, Managers, and Users can. Viewers can look but not change anything. Field staff do not see these pages.
